THE ARTIST...

Diana Greywing SaccoWhat started me on the path to making STONEWEAR JEWELRY was an innate love for rocks and a curiosity about Native American legends. One of these myths, STONES SPEAK, revealed to me that the Rock Tribe or Stone People had been the recordkeepers of Mother Earth's evolution throughout time immemorial!

This intrigued me enough that I volunteered to do some storytelling in the Lake Ossipee camping areas of New Hampshire. Working with children is always rewarding and they have a natural thirst for things Native American, so it wasn't long before we were all picking up various sizes and shapes of rocks to read their stories!

Then I started to teach the kids some crafts: dreamcatchers, chokers, masks, puppets. Along the way, I improved my own techniques and quickly made the leap from making crafts to designing JEWELRY as an art form.

As my path widened to embrace the Natural World and its teachings, I came to believe in the Spirit of Mother Earth - that the Rock Tribe were meant to be the buffers for mankind's stresses and anxieties as we evolved towards the LIGHT of the Great Spirit - and although we would walk all over them, crushing them - or even pulverizing great mountains into sand - still they love and endure us!

Although I am not a Native American Indian, I practice Mother Earth Spirituality which emulates their teachings and is the underlining Energy behind and within all of my creative endeavors. GREYWING is my Earth-name, for it is my wish to do the work of the Earth in the world and that of the free beasts whom I call the WILD ANGELS, in the Great Spirit's name and in His LIGHT... for the sake of the Children of the Earth.

Each stone that has come to me, chose me! Before I would even pick-up a beading needle, they knew what shape they would take and what colors would adorn them - they have shown me a myriad of faces in their matrix and they have shared with me their song!

Thankfully, today, there are no right-n-wrong rules for dressing, especially if you are your own person! WEARABLE ART is meant to FRAME that uniqueness! I have designed my pieces to be worn anytime, all of the time, without needing a special occasion or formal affair to don them. My JEWELRY is meant to reflect your inner beauty as well as your outer.

WEARABLE ART is meant to be worn by women who are creative and spiritual in their own right - no matter what type of work they do or how they play.

It has been a truly mystical and, most certainly, a spiritual journey for me in the creation of such beauty to mirror the Natural World around us in all of its glorious and colorful splendor! THANK YOU!

My CABOCHON JEWELRY has been state juried by the LEAGUE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE CRAFTSMEN of which I have been a member from1995-2004. State juried crafts must meet or exceed the quality standards of the League's rigorous Standards Program.
